According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Buffalo Bills quarterback and reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen has agreed to a historic six-year, $330 million contract extension. The deal, which runs through the 2030 season, includes a record-breaking $250 million in guaranteed money, surpassing the previous highest guarantee of $230 million set by Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson in 2022.
“A new NFL mark: the Bills and Josh Allen reached agreement on a new record-setting six-year, $330 million contract that includes $250 million guaranteed, the largest guarantee ever given to an NFL player, sources tell ESPN,” Schefter posted on social media.
The Buffalo Bills confirmed the agreement in an official statement on Sunday, stating, “We’ve reached an agreement on a new deal with MVP QB Josh Allen that will keep him in Buffalo through 2030‼️”
This extension significantly raises Allen’s annual earnings. According to NBC Sports, the new-money average will exceed $60 million per season, up from the $43 million per year he was set to make under his previous contract, which still had four years and approximately $140 million remaining.
Allen, 28, delivered a stellar MVP-winning season in 2024, throwing for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns while recording only six interceptions. He also showcased his dual-threat ability, rushing for 531 yards and adding 12 touchdowns on the ground. His leadership propelled the Bills to a 13-4 record and their fifth consecutive AFC East division title. However, Buffalo fell short in the postseason, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.
The deal cements Allen’s place as one of the league’s premier quarterbacks. His contract sets a new benchmark in the NFL, surpassing the guaranteed amounts secured by other top quarterbacks, including Dak Prescott ($229.4 million) and Joe Burrow ($219 million).
Allen made history last season by becoming the first NFL player to record at least 25 passing touchdowns, 10 rushing touchdowns, and fewer than 10 interceptions in a single season. His remarkable performance ensured the Bills’ commitment to keeping him as the face of the franchise for the foreseeable future.
With this new deal, Buffalo solidifies its investment in Allen, aiming to build upon recent successes and push for a long-awaited Super Bowl victory. The team’s fans, affectionately known as Bills Mafia, will hope their star quarterback continues to deliver at an elite level as he leads the team for years to come.
